With the chainsaw mill attached mark the outside of the post clamps, take the mill off and mark the halfway point of the clamp using a ruler. Find half the width of the chainsaw bar and align it with the center marks of you post clamps. Indent the point with a metal punch so the drill wont walk off the center mark.

First step is to build the rails that our chainsaw sled will slide along and the support for the log. Cuts 1) Cut the 1x12 to equal lengths. You want a length that will is about 12 inches longer than your longest so that your chainsaw blade has clearance on both ends of the log. [I cut mine to 72"] 2) Cut four (4) pieces of 2x4 at 11.5 inches long.

Tip 1: Settle to small logs. A really important (if boring) piece of advice: stick to small logs with small chainsaws. Milling torque demand scales with log width, so to help your small saw cope with the load, keep the cut width short. A good rule of thumb is to only mill logs 6″ thinner than the length of the stock guide bar for your saw.
